Randall Schmitz's Obituary
Randall Joe Schmitz, 60, passed away September 18, 2019, after a four year battle with cancer. He was born August 18, 1959, in Tulsa, OK to Bob and Dot Schmitz. He was the second oldest of five children.In middle school, Randy moved to Stroud, OK where he worked alongside his siblings at his parents’ restaurant. Randy graduated from Stroud High School where he met Twana Lee Hill, the love of his life and wife of 40 years. Randy and Twana lived in Tulsa for most of their adult lives raising three children, Grant, Connor and Alex. They have been active members of Kirk of the Hills Church for over 20 years.Randy graduated from Oklahoma State University and went on to build a dynamic career serving as a Certified Public Accountant and then the Chief Financial Officer for several successful companies. Randy loved his work and formed many lasting friendships throughout his career. His colleagues will always remember him for his integrity and hard work.Randy was known for his generous heart and competitive spirit. He never missed an opportunity to give advice, solve a problem, or tackle a project at the house. He was always willing to drop everything to help someone in need.Randy’s favorite place to spend his time was undoubtedly in the quiet stillness of the woods. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his three boys, his close friends and his best friend and brother Alan.Above all else Randy was a devoted husband and loving father. Nothing brought him more joy than sharing time with his family over a plate of BBQ or putting on a fireworks show. He never missed an opportunity to support one of his boys at their games or performances. It brought him the deepest of joys to coach and watch his boys do what they loved.He is survived by his father Robert Schmitz, mother Dorothy Schmitz, siblings Alan Schmitz, Debbie Johns, Patty Miller, Susie Harrison, wife Twana Schmitz, and sons Grant Schmitz (Meredith), Connor Schmitz, and Alex Schmitz (Choyce).His celebration memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 25 at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, Tulsa, OK. A visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, September 24 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church Special Needs Ministry or World Baseball Outreach. We very much look forward to celebrating and honoring Randy with those who are able to attend.
