Rex Bernard Terrill's Obituary
Rex B. Terrill passed on to join his wife, Barbara in Heaven on May 13th 2024.
Born November 9, 1930, in Vian, Oklahoma to Edd and Lillian Terrill. He lived in Vian for 12 years, until 1942 when his family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma to be near his Dad’s War Time job at the Dupont Powder Plant in Chouteau, OK. He completed the sixth grade and eventually high school in Muskogee. He began college at Northeastern State University where after 2 years entered the U.S. Airforce for 4 years, during the Korean War. He served at Lackland in San Antonio for a short time. Took Basic Training at Wichita Falls, Texas. Norden Bomb Sight Training at Denver, Colorado and was then assigned to a permanent job at Lake Charles, Louisiana, a Super Bomber B29 Base. He was given additional training and worked mostly on the auto pilot, bomb bay doors and bomb bay racks systems. He served in North Africa and was discharged at Rodolph Field near San Antonio, Texas in 1955.
He returned home and finished college at Northeastern State University with a BS Degree in Sociology. He took a State Merit System test and was offered a job in 1956 with the Oklahoma State Employment Service in Ardmore, Oklahoma, which he accepted. He worked there 6 years during which he married Barbara, who he met right after returning home from the military. After 6 years he was offered a manager’s job in Tulsa, which he accepted and worked at for the next 25 years. They joined Calvary Baptist Church in 1962 and remained a member until 2019, a period of 56 years, when they for medical reasons had to move into an assisted memory care facility. They served the church in many ways. Dad taught youth Sunday School for 35 years and was active in many other jobs and committees. He was ordained a Deacon and was also a Trustee. He loved the Lord and his church which he showed faithfully while he was able.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers John Edward and Vernon Kent, a sister Margorie Scarbrough, and his wife of 64 years, Barbara. He is survived by three daughters, Vickie Rhodes of Sherwood, Ohio, Robin Fowler and Jerry of Owasso, and Rexanne McCrary and Scott of Bixby. Brother-in-law Lawrence Parks and Pam of Tahlequah, seven grandchildren, Sarah, Bryce, and Erin, Stephanie and Jared, and Kailee and Camden along with 6 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, May 17th at Floral Haven Funeral Home and the funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 18th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
