Richard Couch's Obituary
Dr. Richard W Couch, 83, of Tulsa passed away November 6, 2020. He was born on March 30, 1937 in Pryor, OK to Wes & Ola Couch. Richard held a PhD in Biology and was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, University of Tennessee and Auburn University. He taught for 30+ years at ORU and was a long-term active member at state and local levels in Gideons International. Richard worked with 4-H, the Corps of Engineers, Oklahoma Academy of Science and the Aquatic Plant Management Society for whom he presented internationally multiple times. Along with a co-author, Richard wrote “Aquatic Plants of Oklahoma” and was instrumental in the clarification of an aquatic genus worldwide. He also owned CC Lawn Care & Aquatic Management Services of Oklahoma.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jane Couch, his two daughters, Juli Couch and Catherine Klehm, four grandchildren, Aren and Lauren Johnstone and Wesley and Mitchell Klehm. A private, family service is to be held November 11, 2020 at Floral Haven. Donations may be made to Gideons International at www.gideons.org in Dr. Couch’s name.
