Richard Gene Lynch's Obituary
Richard Gene Lynch, 91, of Broken Arrow Oklahoma, passed away July 19 2022 at the Village Health Center.
He was born October 5, 1930 to Leatha and Percy Lynch.
He attended and graduated from Sperry High School in 1950. He attended Oklahoma University for 2 years. He was an avid OU Sooner fan.
Gene served in the United States Air Force as a mechanical aircraft instructor during Korean War of which he is a veteran. After which he continued to serve as a member of the National Guard for 18 years.
He worked for American Airlines 30 years as an Aircraft Mechanic, specializing in engine overhaul, hydraulics, and interiors. He retired in 1998.
He married Mary Alice Thompson, February 21, 2009. In their 13 years together, they traveled to Europe and many states in the USA, including Alaska and Hawaii. They loved to travel.
He was an active member of Broken Arrow Church of Christ. He was a member of the Broken Arrow Masonic Lodge, and was a member of Martha Daylight Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was the Worthy Patron for that chapter for 5 years and was very instrumental in keeping their chapter alive and growing. He was also a Grand Representative.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Bessie Irene, second wife Elaine Lyric, brother Clyde Lynch, sister-in-law Ruth Lynch, brother-in-law Warren Hazelbaker, grandsons Mickey and Matthew Phillipo, and step son Jerry Gay.
Gene is survived by his wife Mary of the home, 1 sister Mildred Hazelbaker, 3 children, Lynda Anderson, Anne Lynch, and Mark Lynch, 2 step daughters, Catherine Foshee and Cindy Lewis, 14 grandchildren, and many great- and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate Gene’s life is at 1 pm, July 26, 2022 at Broken Arrow Church of Christ with internment to follow at Osage Gardens in Skiatook, Oklahoma.
