Richard C. “Dick” Norman ObituaryRichard C. “Dick” Norman passed away February 12, 2017 after a long illness. Dick was born June 22, 1930 in Shawnee, Ok to Clarence and Dorothy (Lockhart) Norman. Dick was the second of six children. He moved with his family to Ohio and Indiana while his father worked for Carter Oil Company. They moved back to Tulsa in time for Dick to graduate from Will Rogers High School. He continued his education at the University of Tulsa, graduating with a degree in petroleum geology. His work career began in Tulsa, where he met his wife, Jan. They moved to Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico before returning to Tulsa. Dick was a member of the Tulsa Geological Society and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Dick is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 49 years, Jan; brothers David and Bill Norman; and nephews Kevin and Kelly Norman. Dick is survived by brother Robert (Sandra) Norman, and sisters Mary (Bill) Estes and Susan (Don) Warren and sister-in-law Nancy Norman. He is also survived by his children Gary and Charlotte Norman of Norman, René Norman and Frank McCarthy of Tulsa, David and Carole Norman of Jenks and Clay and Jill Norman of Broken Arrow. He is also survived by grandchildren Carly (Kirk) Owens of Wynne, AR; Ricki and Cammie of Norman; Collin and Erin McCarthy of Tulsa, Keaton Faust of Tampa, FL; Kaitlin (Joe) Logorio of Kansas City, MO; Jacob Norman and his partner Ashley, and her son Palmer of Tulsa; and Ryan and Matthew Norman of Broken Arrow. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Addy Faust and Anabelle and Jachin Owens and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. A life-long member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Dick had a strong and abiding faith in his Lord. He also served the Lord through his work with the Gideons. Dick taught his children to love abundantly, work hard and be generous. The family would like to thank, caregiver, Sarah McLean, for several years of compassionate care. Also, thanks to the excellent and compassionate care provided by the staff at Brookdale on 71st Street that Dick received during his last days. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 12:30 p.m.Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 16th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.
