Richard "Dick" Shuck's Obituary
Richard Shuck, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, friend, and lifelong jokester, passed away on August 19, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born November 21, 1944, in Trenton, Missouri, to parents Richard and Betty Jo Shuck. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and quiet dedication to the people and work he cared about.
He spent his entire adult career with Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG), beginning as a meter reader and working his way up into management, a testament to his work ethic, loyalty, and determination. After retiring, he found joy in a more lighthearted role, delivering for a wholesale flower distributor, a job he cherished for the smiles it brought to others (and to him).
He had an amazing mind, and we all have benefitted from his ingenuity and thoughtfulness in everything from the simple to the complex parts of life.
One of his greatest joys was riding his motorcycle. Whether it was a solo ride to clear his mind or a ride with his daughter on back, the motorcycle rides always brought him such happiness.
More than anything, he had a gift for finding humor in the everyday and for lifting the spirits of those around him. His laughter filled rooms, his kindness touched lives, and his presence will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind a lifetime of great memories, stories, and smiles.
He passed after a long and valiant battle against myelodysplasia syndrome (MDS). He went beyond what was expected and was the master of being knocked down to come back and rally for us. He was able to finish his time happy and at peace.
Survived by wife, Barbara Rose Shuck, brothers Joe & Craig Shuck, sisters Sarah Caughern and Martha Miller, daughter Rebecca Linn Rall, step-sons Tommy & Chris Raper, and grandkids Reagan, Lauren, Katherine, Rachel, Mazzy Linn, Finley, and Hazli. Along with numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces, and a great-great niece.
He had a very large tribe surrounding him throughout his life and final years. To know him was to love and adore him.
