Grandpa. I remember the first time I called you that. I was on a road trip with Darryl and some friends and my car broke down. You and grandma drove 4.5 hours to rescue us from the side of the road and tow us all back to Tulsa. We stopped at a gas station and you started messing with my car. I went inside the store to ask for some tool you needed and told them it was for my grandpa. You’ve been grandpa to me ever since—that was nearly 30 years ago. I have always appreciated how you accepted me as part of your family, long before I was. Thank you for loving me like a granddaughter. I will so miss your genuine smile and sweet eyes, but I will cherish you forever. Please give grandma a kiss for me.
