Robert "Mike" Michael Lightner's Obituary
Robert Michael Lightner
01/27/56 - 12/21/24
Born an Air Force “brat” in Sacramento, California to Mike of Bakersfield, California and Della Lightner of Keflavik, Iceland. They were stationed in many areas as he grew up. From Germany to Iceland, back into the states such as Texas, Colorado, and eventually Nebraska. As a young adult, he graduated at the top of his trucking class landing him in his trucking career which spanned over a decade long adventure that he thoroughly enjoyed! After he had finally became road weary it was time to settle down a bit and “grow some roots” after living such a well traveled life. His mom Della, brother Gunnar, and sister Lisa had settled into Tulsa, Oklahoma at the time so that must be the place! From there he worked a couple of jobs in town such as maintenance at the famous Camelot hotel and even at a local cemetery. Eventually he put back that CDL trucking experience into work at Union Public Schools where he met my mother Paulina, driving school buses. Becoming a family man to my brothers and sisters he went back to school and became an HVAC technician for the school district. My parents had moved their separate ways in life. After settling into our new lives, he met my wonderful step mother, Rhonda, when he had his Mickey Mouse shirt on inside out lol he’s always been so adorably silly. Their relationship came to fruition and spanned a lifetime. He recently retired from the school district after more than 30 years! An absolute passion for his trade I’ll always cherish being able to witness it.
Unfortunately we seen some adversity from some wear and tear over the years and he put up a hard battle with SCLC. I helped advocate and stuck by his side just as he has done for me all the way through. He deserves the world in my eyes and I’m proud to say my Father didn’t have to suffer when he reached the end of his day.
May God rest his soul forever and ever, Amen.
