Roy Blackmore's Obituary
“Well done thou good and faithful servant…. enter into the joy of the Lord.”Roy C. Blackmore, 97, was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on September 14, 1922, where he was reared by his parents, Clark and Goldie Blackmore. He married Martha Taylor in 1943 at Carlisle, Kentucky, and were blessed with 68 happy years of marriage. They ministered to East Tulsa Church for 25 years, and to First Christian Church in Flora, Illinois for ten years, and in semi-retirement held over twenty interim ministries in Oklahoma, Illinois, Florida, and Arizona. In their early years they were a singing and preaching team leading revivals in ten different states.Roy received the Bachelor of Arts and master of Arts degrees at the Cincinnati Bible Seminary (now known as Cincinnati Christian University). Roy was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree from Midwest Christian College for outstanding service to Oklahoma Christian Churches. He served as a trustee of the Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Ozark Bible College, the Northeastern Evangelizing Association, and the Christian Restoration Association.Roy and Martha were privileged to travel to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, the Mediterranean sea area and Hawaii. Roy preached for the North American Christian Convention at Long Beach, California, and the National Missionary Convention at Orlando, Florida. He gave encouragement to many young people to attend Bible College and to enter into a full-time vocational ministry. Roy had a great love for the Lord, the church, and his family.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha.He is survived by three sons and their wives: Philip and Cathy Blackmore, Timothy and Cheryl Blackmore, and Mark and Annie Blackmore; He also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17 from 5 pm – 8 pm at Floral Haven.Services will be at 11 am on Friday, October 18 at the Floral Haven Rose Chapel.
