I was saddened to learn from my Nephew in Tulsa that Sherwin had passed from this earth. I have know him for over 30 years and worked closely with him on the ABC Insurance Trust when he was its Chairman. He always had an optimistic view, a smile and a joke. His closeness to his family and dedication to the open shop movement were two of his many hallmarks. My condolences go out to IlaMae, Mark, Luke, Lesa and their families. I was saddened to learn of the passing of one of my favorite classmates from the East Waterloo High Class of 1955. My maiden name was Sandra Fabel and alphabetically that placed me between Sherwin and Dean Fagerlind at graduation. I was quite emotional on graduation day and having trouble keeping the tears at bay. Sherwin and Dean boosted my spirits just being in the middle of them. They made me laugh. To his family I send my love and condolences. God Bless!

When Sherwin was at the U of Iowa, he invited me to attend the Iowa/Minnesota football game with him.When I met him outside the Iowa stadium, he gave me a handful of Programs for the game and said, "follow me".We walked through the gate, hawking programs and down to the playing field where we sat on the bleachers and watched the game from the 50 yard line.Hey, he was my HERO, I would have followed him almost anywhere!!!Love ya, Man!!

To Mark & Luke…..I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. I only remember him when I was a kid living down the street from you guys but I do recall that I thought he was a great dad because it seemed like you guys were such a close knit family and you all spent a lot of family time together.
