Shirley Dene "Orf" Gay's Obituary
Shirley Dene (Orf) Gay passed from her earthly home to her reward in Heaven on Monday, April 9, 2012. Shirley was born August 9, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she was a Southern Gospel musician, minister, friend, mother, grandmother and wife. She traveled the area singing and playing for quartets, working at various churches and pastored Bethel Evangelistic Center for 13 years. She is survived by her faithful husband Elijah Gay, whom she married December 28, 1956; two daughters, Wanda McCray and Sharon Gay of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Chelsey Dene Gay of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Jamie Bales and Charles Bales of Bakersfield, Missouri and Gary and wife Marianella Bales of Owasso, Oklahoma; four great grandsons, Charles Bales and Gary Joseph Bales of Owasso, Oklahoma and Tyler Bales and Shane Bales of Bakersfield, Missouri; one brother, Bud, and Nancy Orf of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister, Nadine, and James Drake of Kimberling, Missouri and many nieces and nephews whom Shirley loved. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lee and Wanda Orf, stepmother Jewel Orf, and four brothers Wendel, Jack, and Robert Glance and Sam Baker. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Thursday in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, interment to follow. Family to receive friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
