Starr Clyburn Cassady's Obituary
Starr Clyburn Cassady was born in Tulsa on March 14, 1938 and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1956. She died on December 24, 2011 in Denver, CO, where she had resided since the passing of her husband in 2008. Though she traveled the world, her heart was always in Tulsa. She is survived by 5 children, Angela Durbon Pond and spouse Bob, Jeff Durbon and spouse Lezli, Brent Cassady and spouse Sandra, Pam Cassady Chapman and spouse Steve, and Caron Cassady Guillo and spouse Bob. Grandchildren Annie Durbon, Baylie Durbon, Kenneth Cassady, Colton Cassady, Denton Cassady, Jonathan Ellis, Jeremy Ellis, Emily Ellis, Christopher Guillo, Nicole Guillo, Caleb Guillo, and 5 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Janis De La Torre, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Walter R. Cassady, her parents Romie and Eula Clyburn and her brother, Dale Clyburn. She leaves a strong legacy of love for her family, her friends, her brothers and sisters in Christ, and her 'adopted' families that she helped over the years. After Hurricane Katrina, Starr and Walt spent 3 months in Baton Rouge helping with clean up efforts. Starr was active with OK Army National Guard military family support activities, Church of Christ activities, and caring for her children and grandchildren until she was no longer able to do so. The world is a better place because of her many influences.
