Steven Ray Bishop, 57, of Broken Arrow, went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens on March 20, 2013 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. His celebration of life service will be held at Church On The Move, in the Oneighty Building, on March 21, 2013 at 10:00 am. Pastor Darian Thomas of Church On The Move will be officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens at 1:30 pm. Steve was born in Dallas, Texas to Harold and Dimple Bishop on October 18, 1955. He went to high school at South Garland and graduated in 1974. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a master's degree from The University of North Texas. He worked as a Director of Marketing and Business Development at Vacuworx Global. He also worked at Hilti as Director of Strategic Business for 30 years. He was involved at Church On The Move and was a proud member of the Saturday night usher team. Steve met his wife of 32 years, Cindy, at Taco Bell in Lubbock, Texas and the rest is history. They were married on May 31, 1980. They loved each other and were a great team. They liked to work in the yard and fix up their home. Whatever they did together, they did it well. Steve would be the first to say that he had good taste. He was a great dancer and a really good singer! He was very organized and he was a sweeping and vacuuming fool! Cindy is going to have to learn how to use a broom or hire out. Steve loved to watch his daughters, 'Mano' and 'Squirt', play soccer. He could whistle so loud and they knew exactly what his tone meant: Pick it up! Shake it off! Great job! That was awesome! Quit messing with your shoes! He was fiercely protective of his daughters and he loved them unconditionally. He taught them how to be fair, kind, hard working, and loyal. He stood up for them but always let them know when they needed to work on something. He loved his soccer family and was always full of praise and encouragement for all of his soccer girls. Steve loved and honored his parents, Harold and Dimple Bishop. His dad said that he would give Steve advice and Steve would take it and do it better than he could do himself. Steve adored his mother, 'Little Eller', and his sister, 'Glo Ball'. He would do anything for his family and there were no limits to his love for them. Steve always loved to be with people and he loved to laugh. He made many, many friends throughout his life and everyone described him as their 'best buddy'. He had an infectious laugh and he was always ready to have a good time. He loved his family and friends and he was incredibly loyal to them. One of his best character traits was that he was always looking for the good in people; he never gave up on someone. He gave everyone a nickname and they always seemed to stick, 'Puppy', 'Mano', 'Squirty', 'Ironhead', 'Lumpy', 'Big Jock', 'Little Eller', 'Glo Ball', 'Lay Lay', 'Upchuck', 'Paco'... the list goes on and on. Be sure to remind us what they were. He loved animals, especially his sweet Tucker and Beezy who were always at his side. They stayed with him to the end. It was always a happy reunion every time they saw each other. Steve was a hard worker. He enjoyed hunting, all kinds of music, and anything outdoors. He loved to work out and hike Turkey Mountain. Simply put, he loved to love and he loved life. Steve is survived by his wife, Cindy Bishop of Broken Arrow; his two daughters Amanda Bishop of Oklahoma City and Kelsey Bishop of Tulsa; his parents, Harold and Dimple Bishop of Garland, Texas; his sister, Gloria McCormick of Garland, Texas; and numerous other extended family members and loved ones whose lives he has greatly impacted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Church On The Move, 1003 N. 129th E. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74116. Condolences may be left in Steve's online guestbook at Floralhaven.com The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Church On The Move, Pastor Darian Thomas, Floral Haven, Dr. Scott Cole and his excellent staff, Tyler Townsend, Lauren McKinney, and the countless family members and friends who have provided love and support. In closing, Steve's last request would be for us all to follow the advice of 1 John: 4:7, 'Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God'.
