Thomas G. Joseph, age 66, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home in Inola, OK. He was born Dec 13, 1951, in Peoria, IL to H. George and Betty Joseph. He grew up in Independence, MO, where he met and later married Kerry Read Obituary

I actually wrote this after Tom’s funeral.My father-in-law’s funeral was today & it was absolutely amazing how many people’s life he touched. Several told stories and memories that they had of Tom. He was such an amazing man and everyone would agree with that. He was kind, generous, loving, brave, courageous, sweet, loyal, caring, and had touch of onryness in him. The list that could describe Tom would just go on and on with positive words. I mean he was the type of man that would seriously take his own shirt off his back and shoes off his feet to give to someone else in need. I feel that anyone who knew Tom, gained something special from him such as knowledge, wisdom, how to truly be a generous and giving person, how to stay strong and persevere, to have a since of adventure, how to have fun, to have a since of humor, to always stay young at heart, to do things that make you happy, and honestly the list could go on and on. He loved his family, anything outdoors, anything RC, birds, dogs, really any animal, the lake, fishing, mowing, using his tractor, making things look perfect, helping others and truly always loved helping his wife, boys, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren- he would do absolutely anything for us.. I mean ANYTHING. He was always there to help me within 30 seconds of me calling him, no matter what it was for.
I’m going to miss our long talks and hanging out together when everyone was at work or gone except for us. He was my buddy. I’m also going to miss watching him do the things he enjoyed. Every single day I would make my coffee and just watch him outside in the mornings. He was always busy doing something he enjoyed. I always told people he was the busiest, most hard working retired man. He made me feel like family from day 1 of me joining his family. In fact, he’s the reason I have my sweet little family. Tom and my grandpa set Adam and I up on a date. He was just always so sweet to me. My heart hurts so bad that he’s not with us anymore, I can’t even express how much it hurts. Also, I can’t even begin to explain how much I’m going to miss his generous heart and sweet soul around here. I love you Tom. I am so very grateful that I had the opportunity to spend the years that I spent with him and honored to be his daughter-in-law. Heaven gained an amazing angel.
Having known Tom for over 30 years, I can truly say that he was always a joy to be around. With two boys of my own near Jareds and Adams age, and all of us into motocross, for almost ten years, we spent nearly every decent weekend riding with them. Tom was always the first to offer help no matter what the need and without consideration of how much it may inconvenience him. No matter what endeavor Tom engaged, wether it be the bikes, the planes, carpentry , or even masonry, he immersed himself in it and quickly mastered it. Kerry raised two outstanding sons who will comfort and protect her during these trying times.

Tom was my dad’s friend for many years, but even better- Tom is my daughter’s father-in-law. He was like a second father to her. She always told me little stories about what Tom was doing outside, did for her, or would just sit and chit chat with her. He was her buddy. Not only was Tom all of these things, but he was also a mentor to my sons. Tom is very loved and set the example for all by demonstrating kindness, love, forgiveness, giving, honesty, hard work, and fun. He met Jesus Christ Tuesday and although we all miss him dearly, Tom is in the presence of Glory forever.

Like a Brother. we had been friends since ‘1967’ i never heard him raise his voice once, great sense of humor. very thoughtfull friend. he drove hos 350 honda scambler to visit me in Tucson, Arizona. we had the time of our lives, we went mountain climbing and riding our bikes all around the mountains, he taught me the sense of adventure, the Joseph Family were truly the best, they we very nice to me, they took me in after me parents had died, i will surely miss my Friend Tom.I don’t know why but these past two months have been trying very hard to reach out to him, i felt something.Well Tom like that song we used to enjoy while riding our bikes God bless, and ride captain ride
Tom was one of the best people you could ever hope to meet! A loyal friend and loving family man, he was the perfect example of a true gentleman. He truly was the type that would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. Very hard worker, jack of all trades, he loved to keep himself busy. He was also young at heart, he loved to laugh and just have fun. We will always cherish all the good times, campfire stories, and laughter we shared. Going to miss hearing “Hey Bud” or “Jiminy!” Whenever we’d visit. Tom loved all things RC, but his favorite was the planes and gliders. He was a top notch pilot too! He taught us both how to fly and we couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. Everytime we take to the skies, he will always be there with us. We only knew him for a short 7 years, but our lives have been forever changed for the better from just knowing this genuinely wonderful and amazing man.
I have had the honor of flying with Tom for a very short 6 years. Whether we were at American Turf Flyers Air Field or at the Air Strip at Tom & Kerry’s Ranch. I enjoyed Tom’s hospitality and caring friendship each and every minute. Tom thought of others before himself. This Man will be missed to all he touched in this world.
As far as the Sport of Model Aviation, Eastern Oklahoma has a deep void where Tom stood with his departure.A poem written by John Gillespie Magee Jr. “High Flight” Remains the most Enduring of Aviation Poems. As I read this piece of poetry, I picture my dear.. dear Friend Tom. “That has slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the Skies on Laughter – Silvered wings; as the poem moves on I picture Tom.

Tom was a Class Act! I was fortunate to have known him and a better person for it. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. I have always been touched by the poem a young WWII pilot wrote, High Flight, and I think Tom would have well. God Bless! Tom was a best friend of mine and an inspiration to me. He had all the qualities that a good and kind person should have.
I will deeply miss you, Tom. I will never forget you. You’ve left a lasting impression on me of how a good human being is supposed to be.
