Tom and I spent many a trip to Africa. Memories include Tom getting overheated, and me watering him down every-so-often; Tom getting us led into the brush by some disgruntled employees ( to end up at a big hole that had been dug in the creek bed); Tom talking me into baptizing a Hindu (in India) in an area where that was against the law; Tom taking me to Lodwar where it had to be 200 degrees in the shade; and finally. Tom just being a great travelling companion. One thing that was missing from Tom's memorial service was the mention of Tom's "adoptive daughter" in Kenya. Tom sponsored her after her parents died, and she was about to be thrown out of school, through primary school, high school, university for a bachelor's degree, and then to a master's degree in economics. Doris is now an accountant with World Vision. What a blessing Tom had on her life. She always called him Dad. Bill Lester
