William Everett Casper was born on June 3, 1934, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to his mother Monta Marie Morton and father William Russell Casper. He is survived by his four children Kimberly Kay Banfield, William Camron Casper, James Kyle Casper, and Kendyle Kay Boyd.Young Billy Casper spent the days of his childhood delivering Tulsa World newspapers on Reservoir Hill, exploring the oil leases of Shamrock Oklahoma and running the underground tunnels of downtown Tulsa. Bill Casper was a 1952 graduate of Central High School. One of his life’s proudest achievements was his many years of service in the United States Navy which included a 2-year assignment in Japan. In 1960, Bill married the love of his life — his southern belle — Shari Louvenia Laster and they have four children, eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. From then on, he was known simply as ‘Billpa.’After his Navy service, Bill entered the aerospace industry, where he had a remarkable career as a tool designer. Working with Rockwell, Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas he contributed to many historical United States landmark achievements including the Saturn V rocket, the Space Shuttle Orbiters, and the USS Space Station. He was also considered an expert for his work on the Boeing 747 and 777 and many military aircraft including the A12, B-1, and B-2 bombers.Bill enjoyed woodworking as a hobby, building beautiful handmade muzzleloaders with which he competed routinely with his wife and friends. Later, he and Shari started their wonderful children’s line of custom designed and crafted furniture named ‘Child’s Play.’Later in life, Billpa was lucky to spend most days with his grandchildren in Broken Arrow. He was surrounded by many loving church members and friends who would take him out for favorite hamburgers and provide an endless supply of cookies, strawberry ice cream, and crossword puzzles.Billpa had a dry and witty sense of humor and was known for his storytelling. If he had been asked about the news of his death, he would have replied: “Hey, Chick Don’t Care.” And then spend 20 minutes explaining the origins of that statement.A Funeral Service will be held 11AM Friday, May 3, 2019 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
