William Roger Twilley's Obituary
William Roger (Bill) Twilley was born on May 29, 1933 near Rhea’s Mill, AR. While he originally lamented his humble depression-era upbringing, he later realized just how blessed he was. “I had mountains to climb, and streams to swim and fish in. I wish my grandkids could have lived a little of that.” Bill served as an Army Staff Sergeant in the Air Defense Artillery while stationed in Skwentna, Alaska. It was there that he learned that the world was much bigger than himself. After the Army, Bill was blessed with a 35-year career at Sun Oil Company and an ever-growing family. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Twilley and leaves behind five sons, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. “Some of my fondest memories were when we took the grandkids camping for a week each year for 26 years. We had many adventures and I’m sure that they have many good memories also.” He was also blessed with a church family at Jenks First Baptist where he and three of his sons were saved. A heart attack in April of 2001 changed his outlook on life. “I looked at life differently. I appreciated my family and friends more, began to walk closer with God, and began to enjoy all of God’s wonders such as beautiful sunrises and sunsets.” “I want everyone to know that I’m looking forward to this new beginning.”“You have let me experience the joys of life and the exquisite pleasures of your own eternal presence.” -Ps. 16:11 (TLB)Bill leaves behind children and their spouses: Roger and Shirley Twilley, Jeff and Debbie Twilley, Larry and Tina Twilley, Steve and Amy Conner, Jeff Conner.
