November 23, 1972 - May 26, 2021
On May 26th, 2021, Cheryl Jennings, age 48, was taken way too soon. Cheryl was born in Macomb, Illinois on November 23, 1972. In 1976 the family moved to Onalaska, Wisconsin where Cheryl completed her elementary and secondary education. Cheryl graduated from Onalaska High School in Onalaska, Wisconsin in 1991, where she was a multi-sport athlete in basketball, softball, and tennis. Always a lover of music, she also served as the drum major in the marching band, sang in the choir, and played a variety of instruments. Cheryl earned numerous accolades and awards, being named to honor rolls and leadership councils, earning an invitation to Wisconsin’s Girls State, and delivering her high school commencement address. Cheryl continued her education at the University of Tulsa on an academic scholarship, becoming a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a member of the President’s Ambassadors Council, the TU Emerging Leader’s program, Beta Alpha Psi, and several honor rolls. She graduated with a degree in accounting in 1995. Upon graduation, Cheryl began her professional career at CITGO corporate headquarters, taking on various roles in the Distribution Department until she left in 2006 to focus her energy on their growing family. Those who knew Cheryl describe her as the kindest, warmest most peaceful person on the planet. She had the uncanny ability to make everyone in her presence feel like a longtime friend. Her easy laugh and genuine smile always put everyone at ease. No place was her servant’s heart more apparent than in her love and devotion to her family. While she will be dearly missed, her legacy lives on in the deep friendships she fostered throughout her life. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Marty Jennings, her two children, Trey, age 15, and Kate, age 12; her parents, Ron and Carol Bottin of Tulsa, OK, and brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Rebecca Bottin of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Those who wish to honor Cheryl’s memory are invited to make a donation in her name to Autism Speaks (https://www.autismspeaks.org) and to turn up the volume the next time they hear a 90’s country hit.
