January 14, 1930 - October 18, 2021
Gail Janice Fitzgerald (Jan), 91, went to be with Jesus in heaven peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, October 18, 2021. She loved Jesus with her whole heart, lead a Christ-like life and was the sweetest lady. She was one in a million and loved everyone everywhere. She walked the definition of Love from 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7. She was patient and kind. She was not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. She did not demand her own way. She was not irritable and kept no record of being wronged. She did not rejoice about injustice but rejoiced whenever the truth won. She never gave up, never lost faith, was always hopeful and endured through every circumstance. She was a blessing in every way! Jan was full of love and hugs; she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, her entire family, and many friends. She shared her joy, kindness, and love with everyone she met, and everybody loved her too. Jan was born on January 14, 1930, in Duncan, OK to Tom and Abigail Fuller. She was the daughter of an oil worker in McCamey, TX and graduated high school from McCamey High School. She continued her education and earned a two-year business administration degree. While living in McCamey and working for Shell Oil, she met, fell in love and married Paul Fitzgerald. They married in McCamey TX on April 4, 1951. Shortly after getting married, Paul went to Germany with the U.S. Army. Jan joined him in Germany for his last several months. When they returned, they moved back to Houston to work and begin their family. Over the years they lived in Amarillo, TX, Stillwater, OK and Broken Arrow, OK. They were blessed with 5 children (4 boys and a girl): Mike Fitzgerald, wife, Ellen of Lexington, KY; Steve Fitzgerald, wife, Gina of Houston, TX; Dan Fitzgerald, wife, Karen, of Huma, VA; Tim Fitzgerald of Stillwater, OK; and Cindy Pride, husband, John of Tulsa, OK. Jan is survived by her 5 children and her grandchildren, Erinn Carter and her husband Tom, Katie Fitzgerald, Kirk Fitzgerald, Kelsi Divine, John Fitzgerald, Becky Fitzgerald, Jessie Fitzgerald, Madison Gifford and her husband Will, Johnathan Pride, and her great granddaughter Hayden Carter. She is also survived by her brother Dr. Dan Fuller. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her brother Tommie Fuller and sister Loyce Golden. Jan was the best mom and grandma in the world. She put her family first and provided everything they needed. She was their Sunday school teacher, Den Mother, Girl Scout leader and always at every activity, event, and celebration. While in Stillwater, she worked at Oklahoma State University for 25 years. She was the Administrative Secretary to the Dean of Sociology. She did her job with excellence and was honored regularly. She retired in 1995, and then moved to Broken Arrow, OK to be close to her family. Jan had a heartfelt love for her family and was fully dedicated to each one of them. Memories of her will be cherished and she will be dearly missed. Memorial contributions may be made to the next TV episodes of “The Chosen” (https://watch.angelstudios.com/thechosen) or your favorite charity in her honor. Also, be a blessing to someone like she was – give them lots of hugs and call them on their birthday and sing Happy Birthday!
