John "Harvey" Haskins
January 26, 1986 - February 11, 2022
John “Harvey” Haskins, beloved father, son, and brother passed away on Friday, February 11th in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 36 years old. Harvey was born on January 26th, 1986 to father John Haskins and mother Paula Haskins in Claremore, Oklahoma. He attended Union High School and received an Associate's degree from Tulsa Community College. Harvey was a proud Shawnee tribal member, an enthusiastic outdoorsman, and an avid OU Sooner fan. Harvey was always talking about or planning his next camping trip and had a passion for floating the Illinois River. He loved the beauty and solace that nature had to offer and dreamed of traveling the world to experience all its illustrious gifts and beauty. Harvey worked in the hospitality industry for 12 years as a bartender. It was his passion. He dreamed of owning his own place one day. Harvey was the warm, welcoming face behind the bar that was a bright light. He went out of his way to make everyone feel good and made an impact on everyone he came across. Harvey was everyone’s favorite for so many reasons, he put people at ease, made them feel extra special, and always left them with a craveable experience that people wanted to come back for. Harvey’s big heart and compassion for others were second only to his love for his daughter Shawna. Harvey welcomed his beautiful daughter, Shawna Michelle Haskins, or as he lovingly referred to as munchkin, in 2005. Harvey taught Shawna to love Star Wars and shared his fondness for video gaming. Harvey made certain that they would watch every Star Wars movie together then they would spend hours dissecting and discussing their favorite parts. Shawna was her father’s prize possession and his favorite human. His favorite role in life was being Shawna’s dad. Any chance he was given, Harvey would brag about Shawna’s grades, her natural gift of flute playing to even her beating him in a video game. Harvey was always ready and willing to spend hours talking to Shawna, lending his support and advice when needed. He enjoyed life and taught Shawna to enjoy every moment that life has to offer. Harvey will forever be known for his love for family and friends, his kind and gentle soul, and his bright spirit that was always looking out for others. Harvey never knew a stranger and anyone that truly knew him knew he had such a big heart. He’d give you anything and would always meet you with kindness. He is survived by his amazing daughter, Shawna Haskins (Rachel, mother to Shawna), his Mother Paula Haskins, Father John Haskins (Tessa), Brother Michael Haskins, Niece Shelby Haskins, Paternal Grandparents Lloyd and Fleta Haskins, Maternal Aunt Jan Breshears, Maternal Aunt Wanda (BeBe) Hayhurst, Maternal Aunt Virginia Roach, Paternal Uncle Rick Haskins (Bridgett), Paternal Aunt Dana Bowers (Will), Paternal Great-Aunt Susie Hicks, along with numerous cousins, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal Grandparents Ray and Morna Smith. A viewing will take place on Sunday, February 20th from 11:00 AM-5:00 PM, family to greet friends from 2-5 PM at Floral Haven. Funeral Services will be held at Floral Haven at 12:30 PM on Monday, February 21st. Following the funeral, there will be a graveside service in White Oak, Ok where Harvey will be laid to rest at a family burial ground.
