Korey David King was born November 2, 1984 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Kevin Dale King and Kelli Rae King. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Kevin and Lisa King of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his mother and stepfather Kelli and Shawn Meaney of Iowa City, Iowa, grandparents Eunice and Harold Logsdon of Tulsa, Ray and Nancy (Nana) King-Jumper of Tulsa and grandmother Carrol Kennedy of McCurtain, Oklahoma, sisters Stacie King of Tulsa, Zoe Meaney of Iowa City and brother Steven Cowan of Tulsa, uncles and aunts Chuck and Karen Denton, Tina and Waylon Luper, Keith and Dawna King of Tulsa and Robert and Danielle Kennedy of Wilburton, Oklahoma, cousins Kristin and Brittany King of Tulsa, Tara Kennedy of Sierra Vista, Arizona, RC Kennedy of McCurtain, Chuck and Kemper Denton and Rebecca and Bryer Luper. He was preceded in death by his â??Grannyâ? Margret Cherry, â??Popsâ?, Harry Dale King of Tulsa and uncle Dennis Robert Kennedy of Safford, Arizona. A personâ??s life is remembered by what they do and the impact they have on others. Korey was a loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and much more. Korey was a reserved young man. He loved nature, drawing and he loved learning about everything he could find. Korey believed that it was our responsibility to take care of the planet and the animals that inhabited it. He liked learning about gardening and put that to the ground growing a wide variety of vegetables and herbs, flowers and plants. He would find different combinations to try in the garden whether it was just curiosity or something to bring better health. Korey would plant extra for the animals to eat. Growing up, Korey was a Cub Scout, and he earned his Arrow of Light. We camped one weekend at a Boy Scout badge earning event, and Korey loved the outdoor skills he learned, such as building a fire. He also enjoyed Tae Kwon Do, and practiced martial arts in Arizona and California. He helped to take care of the sick and infirm, and was always willing to help those in need, especially his moms. He loved his dog Bear, the black Cocker Spaniel. He is remembered running and playing with Bear in a field deep with snow from a rare winter snowstorm in Tulsa. He spent hours playing fetch with our yellow lab Agnes. He also loved the outdoors as a boy, and he took long hikes in Sabino Canyon with his mom Kelli, and loved to climb, as well as slide down the water fall areas. This was the part of life that Korey shared with Nature but there was much more to Korey. Korey was an entrepreneur. He developed websites and dabbled into many other avenues of computer design applications and marketing. Koreyâ??s intelligence far surpassed his years and his training. He was brilliant with his computer. Korey was extremely quiet and did not have the need to be surrounded by many people. He could find comfort with his interests. Even at family gatherings, Korey often had little to say, but he always greeted everyone with an infectious smile and a hearty hello. He was a kidder and loved to get involved with the crazy gag gifts that his Nana gave the men at Christmas time. Whether it was firing rubber discs, dart guns or playing with a little remote control car, he would chuckle as he played with them and then laugh 30 minutes later when the cheap toys either broke or all the darts got lost behind the couch. Today he smiles and laughs again as he walks with Jesus, and is reunited with family and beloved dogs that have gone before him.
