Sue Tiernan
January 19, 1934 - July 26, 2013
Mary Sue Tiernan, known as Sue to her friends and family, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with family early Friday morning. Sue graduated from Bristow High School in Bristow, Oklahoma, where she was a baton twirler, basketball queen and named “prettiest girl.” She graduated from the University of Oklahoma where she was chosen as a yearbook queen and as a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She married her high school sweetheart, Ron, and has resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for most of their 57 year marriage. Sue and her husband have traveled the world. Sue enjoyed cooking for her family, was a member of the Tritones singing club, served as President of the Tulsa Mrs. Club, and was fond of penning an untold number of poems for her family and friends. Between raising her four children and managing her busy household, Sue also found the time to sell real estate in the Tulsa area for twenty-two (22) years. She was honored as a multi-million dollar sales associate on numerous occasions. A woman of very strong faith in God, Sue was a member of Holy Family Cathedral parish where she served as a two term President of the Women’s Club, was a member of the choir and served as lector for many years. At one with nature, Sue’s knowledge and skill in the backyard resulted in her achieving the recognition of a Master Gardener. Sue was famous for her congenial easy manner, her constant smile, and for making friends and striking up conversations wherever she went. She is survived by her husband Ronald Keith Tiernan and her four children Brian Keith Tiernan, Julia Jean Jackson-Fowler, Darin Patrick Tiernan, and Tracy Lynn Tiernan. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Good Shepherd Hospice located at 6218 South Lewis Avenue, Suite 110, Tulsa, OK. 74136.
