Sands, Valdene 84, of Tulsa passed from this life on November 10, 2009. She was born on July 1, 1925 in Clayton, Oklahoma. Valdene was a devoted teacher, teaching at Tulsa Central and East Central. She was a student council sponsor, who encouraged and inspired many students to achieve leadership positions in life. Mrs. Sands was a strong advocate for teachers rights resulting in her serving as the first Vice President of Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association.
